HGV Class 1 Drivers (CAT C+E) Nights - Barnsley surrounding areas

The Recruitment Crowd are currently recruiting on behalf of our well known and industry-leading client based in the Barnsley area. We are looking for multiple HGV Class 1 Drivers (CAT C+E) to join the team. 

Hours: Nights across Monday to Sunday with various start times available, average shift length of 12 hours. 

Pay Rates: 

1+ years' experience / after 6 weeks employment (NIGHTS): Monday to Friday £17.59, Saturday £18.29 & Sunday £18.61 

New pass / until 6 weeks of employment (NIGHTS): Monday to Friday £16.15, Saturday £18.00 & Sunday - £18.50 

Including holiday days on higher rate (NIGHTS): £19.71 / Saturday - £23.19 / Sunday - £24.61 (with holiday pay). 

Location: Barnsley, S74. 

Job Type: Ongoing. 

The role: 

• Trunking between depots, ensuring timely and safe delivery of parcels. 

• Reversing in the yard and manoeuvring vehicles with precision. 

• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle, ensuring roadworthiness and compliance with company standards. 

• Adhere to all relevant traffic laws, regulations, and company policies to maintain a high level of safety on the road. 

• Effectively communicate with dispatch and logistics teams to ensure timely deliveries and pickups. 

Requirements: 

• Full UK driving licence with Class 1 entitlement (category C+E). 

• Valid and in date DCPC and Digital Tachograph card. 

• New passes welcome! 

• No more than 6 points on licence (minor offences only).  

• Successful completion of assessment, including theory element which is two questionnaires based on drivers' hours and road laws and a practical element which will be based on yard reversing and a short driving test. 

• Full understanding of WTD legislation. 

• Excellent communication skills. 

• A safety-first mindset.
