The Company

Our client was established to exclusively manage a UK residential property portfolio on behalf of private investment funds. The business focus on delivering an exceptional experience to residents living in quality, yet affordable homes. Due to expansion and aggressive growth plans we are looking to recruit a HR Advisor/ People Advisor to ideally be based in the buzzing city of Manchester!

Role Overview

The People department is responsible for creating and delivering initiatives focused on employee experience, workforce compliance, performance and company culture. Reporting into the Head of People, the People Advisor will focus on the delivery of generalist people practices covering all aspects of the employee lifecycle.

The Role

  • Act as the first point of contact for all People queries
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to employees and managers at all levels concerning all aspects of generalist HR, ensuring advice and action taken reflects our values, best people practices, and compliance with employment law
  • Lead on employee relations cases and escalate complex cases to the Head of People, preventing and reducing business risks
  • Regularly review and update People policies and procedures in line with local legislation
  • Build strong relationships with managers at all levels, coaching them on best practice, people policies and procedures, allowing managers to take ownership of the full management cycle
  • Collaborate with hiring managers on recruitment campaigns, supporting with campaign delivery from job advertising, sourcing, to drafting employment contracts, ensuring we successfully source and recruit the right talent
  • Support the Head of People with developing and reviewing the department PSL, forming strong relationships with our recruitment search partners, identifying new suitable partners, and reviewing performance
  • Conduct People inductions with new starters, and support hiring managers with induction process, e.g. assigning e-learning
  • Collaborate with the Team Coordinator to ensure smooth delivery of onboarding and offboarding processes
  • Support the Head of People with the learning and development plan for all employees, identifying learning gaps, coordinating offsites and training, support with learning creation, and sourcing external training providers. Build a strong relationship with our learning partner, Kallidus to identify new suitable courses, system maintenance and updates
  • Any other tasks within the needs of the business.

The Candidate

  • Previous experience in a similar generalist role within a HR/People team, experience advising and coaching managers at all levels including Director level with employee relations and employment law is essential HR/People experience gained within any of the following industries is preferred: property, sales, customer service, hospitality
  • Relevant degree and HR qualification e.g. CIPD Level 5
  • A true passion for People practices, and desire to further develop in HR/People
  • Working knowledge of employment law and all HR processes to be able to advise on People queries and cases
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills and genuinely wants to create and deliver a great employee experience through encouraging and motivating others
  • Recognises and practices the importance of confidentiality and dealing with sensitive matters and data
  • A confident self-starter, ability to work alone and within a team
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint, and confident with generating reports
  • Experience using any or all of the following systems is highly desirable; Bamboo HR, Kallidus Learn and Perform, Articulat
