Speciality Doctor
My client based in Manchester who provides support to clients within a Mental Health Hospital setting is looking for a Speciality to work alongside a very professional and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist.
Job Purpose:
The post-holder will be responsible for delivering medical input, under the supervision of the Consultant Psychiatrist, to patients referred to and accepted for treatment by the service in line with the agreed admission criteria.
General Duties:
- Attend daily MDT handover meeting each morning with the multidisciplinary team, providing medical support and advice where required.
- Work alongside the local GP surgery to ensure all service users have a full physical health screen upon admission (including examination, ECG, and blood).
- Clerking in of new admissions
- Seeking collateral history from other professionals and family members
- Preparing First-tier Tribunal and Hospital Managers’ hearing reports under the supervision of the Consultant.
- Depending on experience, providing oral evidence at First-tier Tribunal and Hospital Managers’ hearings under the supervision of the Consultant.
- Documenting ward rounds and CPA meetings.
- Contributing to the service development by participating in
- Clinical Governance activities by conducting audits, research and teaching.
- Participate in the medical on-call rota
Be fully conversant with the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Care Act 2014) and current Care Quality Commission guidance, ensuring that standards are strictly always adhered to. - Be conversant with the Mental Health Act 1983 as amended by the Mental Health Act 2007.
- Ensure that Health and Safety procedures and regulations are adhered to.
- Attend internal meetings and forums as appropriate
- To take part in clinical audit and other clinical governance activities
- To be registered with the Royal College of Psychiatrists for
- Continuing Professional Development (CPD). This includes achieving and maintaining good standing for CPD in line with the requirements of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
